Institute for Metallurgy in Sweden
This report is written in Swedish and has been performed by the Institute for Metallurgy in Sweden.
Their brief was as follows:
The weld samples consisted of two single-sided fillet welds marked with "A" and "B".
The metal sheet thickness was 3.2 mm in both cases. Both of the samples had been welded using gas-shielded metal arc welding (MAG) according to data provided in Table 1 below, together with information concerning steel type and additive material.
Furthermore, sample B has been welded with a special wire lubricant "Spatter Shield" its function described as minimizing the welding spatter
The purpose of this research was to check that the Spatter Shield wire lubricant did not influence negatively on the structure of the finished weld and its mechanical properties.
